Jay-Z - DC Hangar Tour Snapshot

With the swagger of a filthy New York pigeon flapping high above Air Force One Jigga-Man November 18 swooped down on the campus of Howard University in Washington, DC and lead an indelible moment during his “7 cities in 17 hours” Cingular Hangar tour. Jay-Z re-entered the nation’s capitol-where his man “caught his death at”-to the title tune from his new LP ‘Kingdom Come’ (November 21), transforming the concert into an informal inauguration; after five weeks of disses and downloading he’s not sorry anymore about taking a brand new term. Brown leather pilot’s jacket and hoody draped over sparkling label chain, the presidential emcee left hysterical contest winners and students chanting “Encore!”

“PSA” and “U Don’t Know” added oomph on this sunny breeze of a Fall afternoon, then Jay brandished new flow during a snippet of the cool middle age anthem “30 Something.” He bounced and sauntered about the stage like an ’06 Sammy Davis , controlling the crowd with casual waves of the hand and jazzy convulsions. Jay’s many names rang like Premier’s bells during renditions of “Jigga My Ni**a” and “H to the Izzo.” And fans confirmed they indeed clutched every slippery line by mimicking the entire first verse from “Big Pimpin” while “Hova” went into his patented hip hop conductor act

Jay-Z’s road DJ, Green Lantern, engineered rocking-out the parking lot behind Cramton Auditorium with “I Just Wanna Luv You” and “Show Me What You Got .” Then when inspired fans ventured their final lunges and threw up Roc-A-Fella diamonds at their self-styled savior the air turned so thick with excitement that even Jay wanted to blaze one more. But his speech was needed elsewhere in the hip hop nation, so Commander and Chief Hov lifted back to the sky, headed for another touch down in another city

Snoop Dogg - Blue Carpet Treatment

The laid back and lanky Long Beach Native, Snoop Dogg, showed up in the industry circa 92 with the release of Dr. Dre’s Da Chronic and was a big part of making this effort a bona fide classic. Then Snoop dropped his own debut, Doggystyle, a year later which proved to be another classic. Based upon those two releases alone, Snoop, at an early point in his career was written into rap history. Snoop’s seamless flow, distinct voice and limitless charisma has allowed him to remain relevant in rap through the years. Now a decade and some odd years later, Snoop Dogg is back to do it again with Tha Blue Carpet Treatment

Snoop eases the listener back into that West Coast G-Funk rhythm over the first few tracks of the album. On “Think About It” Snoop taps into the old school with production reminiscent of the Shaft soundtrack as he flows from topic to topic unrelenting over the retro-feel track. On the following track “Crazy” West Coast OG, Nate Dogg, chimes in with his vocals as the familiar tandem (Snoop Dogg and Nate Dogg) tell about the dangerous streets of California. Snoop picks a pocket in the beat that allows his rhymes to seem intertwined with the beat, a talent the OG has mastered over the years. “That’s That” marks the return of long gone, self-proclaimed R&B thug, R. Kelly in an obvious attempt to cater to the ladies. The track turns out to be eerily catchy and assuredly a crowd favorite for the females

From funk to strictly gangsta rap is where the album transitions mid-way through the effort. With “Gangbangin’ 101” featuring The Game, Snoop and The Game attempt to unite Bloods and Crips all over Cali. Game drops an above par verse with references to Huey P. Newton and Martin Luther King and a few standout lines like “I been shot five times/Now I bleed Hennessy” and “It ain’t a gangsta party until I go dig Pac up.” Then “10 Crips” continues the gangsta rap until it finally settles later in the album. The highlight of the album comes with the reflective “Imagine” featuring Dr. Dre and D’Angelo. Dre gives the signature piano key production, a verse of hypothetical ifs i.e. what if Pac and Big were still alive and Snoop uses his verse to question injustice via violent run ins with the cops. The album ends on a spiritual note with “Conversations” featuring demigod, Stevie Wonder an apt ending to the album. On the track, Stevie Wonder croons away while Snoop makes peace with God (ironic how emcees rhyme about shooting cats all album and make peace with the heavenly father).

This is some of Snoop’s best music in years. The production is on point, the rhymes are on par with Snoop’s lyrical performance in the past and there are a variety of feels on this album. Snoop offers the laid back G Funk of the past, the more gangsta rap sound, and even a hyphee track. The album does seems about 5 or 6 songs too long and could have been trimmed down for a more concise effort. For instance, the track “Beat Up On Yo Pads” which is a track meant to get youngsters hyped about playing little league football. Although it’s an admirable feat to include this track, it may have been a stretch. Also the cliché “A Bitch I Knew” where Snoop enumerates a list of the many women he’s had; another track that could have been left off this one. Besides a few slip ups here
and there, this is Snoop at his best

Jay-Z's 'Kingdom Come' Leaked But Promo Rages Forward

First the supposed track list was revealed, now a version of Jay-Z's entire "comeback" LP, 'Kingdom Come,' has leaked through the Internet. The piece reportedly only contains R&B features, including appearances by John Legend ("Do U Wanna Ride"), Usher and Pharrell ("Anything"), Ne-Yo ("Minority Report"), Chris Martin of Cold Play ("Beach Chair"), and Beyonce ("Hollywood")

The leak comes as Def Jam's CEO/ president prepares for flight. Jay-Z next plans November 18 to embark on a seventeen hour, seven city "Hanger Tour," sponsored by Cingular, during which the emcee will perform in airport hangers for radio contest winners in Atlanta, Philadelphia, Washington D.C., New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, and Las Vegas; this after Jay-Z recently ended his two month long "Global Express Tour," which, in conjunction with MTV and the UN, sought to bring closer attention to the world's unsafe water crises. Jay-Z's Roc-A-Fella Records is also offering-through Rocafella.com- a chance for fans to gain access to exclusive events concerning the release of 'Kingdom Come' and the opportunity to blog about their experience on the site

In other Jay-Z news, he and Hip Hop mogul-co-founder of Def Jam Recordings- Russell Simmons have produced a PSA to fight anti-Semitism. President of Simmons' Foundation for Ethnic Understanding-an organization designed to develop good ties with different ethnic groups- Rabbi Marc Schneier Sunday presented the campaign at the World Jewish Congress Board of Governors meeting in Paris. "It's a whole different ball game when you have two African-Americans [who] are considered demigods," said Rabbi Schneier. "We cannot fight our battles alone… and these ads are a manifestation of that

The PSA features Jay-Z asking: "What's hot? Respect for people. What's not hot? Hating people for their color or religion." Rabbi Schneier reportedly hopes local Jewish communities will broadcast the ad in their hometowns. Time/Warner, the fully integrated media and communications company, donated over $10 million in air time for the PSA

The spot will be available in Spanish, Russian, French and other languages via Voxonic translation technology, a burgeoning new software being marketed and developed in part by fellow mogul and former P.Diddy mentor Andre Harrell. Jay-Z's anti hate PSA will be broadcast in Europe and South America and premiers nationally in January to compliment Martin Luther King Day

Nas Featured on New Film Soundtrack

Def Jam emcee Nas in a Wednesday interview with Funkmaster Flex of Hot 97 announced that he contributed music to the soundtrack for the film "Blood Diamond," featuring Leonardo DiCaprio and Djimon Hounsou

"I'm not in it but felt like I'd shout them out. They treated me real nice," said Nas. Set in war-torn 1990's Sierra Leone, "Blood Diamond" is the story of two quite different men in search of the same rare pink diamond that can save one's family and jump-start life for the other

I think it's going to shake up some stuff out there with the whole way it's happening with them coming from over there on the continent, the way it's brought over there," said Nas of the film

I think it's gonna help out some stuff," Nas added. When Flex prodded the historically socially conscious emcee about the diamonds he was wearing Nas responded, "I like these shiny things, man. And sometimes I wear them and I think about it like, 'Yo, man. These belong to me. I'm buying it back.' I'm trying to get involved." The Hot 97 interview centered around the release of Nas' upcoming Def Jam Recordings debut 'Hip Hop is
Dead, the N,' due December 19

Game, Ja Rule, Irv Gotti Find Truce

The Game and Murder Inc. have finally put aside their rivalry – stemming from the long-standing 50 Cent/Ja Rule feud – and the Game is slated to appear on Ja Rule’s upcoming album.

“Our problem stems from nothing,” Irv Gotti told MTV News. “I seen him at the [past] Grammy’s. Me, I know our problem all stems from bullshit. From somebody who I don’t like to mention anymore.”

Irv Gotti, the CEO of Murder Inc., explained he decided to approach the Game after he heard the Compton rapper reference his friend Kenneth “Supreme” McGriff in one of his rhymes.
“[Game] said some lyrics, if you remember, bigging up ‘Preme. So I went to Game at the Grammy’s and he was sitting with Jimmy Henchman [Game’s manager’. Jimmy Henchman is somebody I respect and somebody I’m rooting for. I’ve known Jimmy for a minute, and I’m happy for his success with Game. Me and Jimmy have a great relationship.
I felt compelled to go over there. I put my hand out and said to Game, ‘Yo, thanks for what you said about my man ‘Preme, it gives him smiles.’ I said thanks for that, and I want you to know … [it’s] love!
I seen Jimmy and gave him [a] pound, like, ‘My brotha.’ I know it took Game off-guard, but it was real. I was extending my hand to him, like, ‘Fuck all that bullshit.’

Next thing you know, him and Ja Rule started talking to each other on the pager. He’s supporting us; we’re supporting him. It’s real.”
In related news, Murder Inc. rapper Ja Rule makes a cameo on Game’s “It’s Okay (One Blood) Remix,” and they are planning to collaborate on a track off of Ja Rule’s upcoming album

Snoop Dogg Gives Up To Face Weapons Charge

age be dictionary lazem dashtid be site...www.ariadic.com

Snoop Dogg surrendered to police yesterday to face charges of possessing a deadly weapon – a baton he tried to carry on an airplane – and was released after posting $150,000 bail.

Snoop, born Calvin Broadus, arrived with his lawyer and a bail bondsman at the Orange County jail in Santa Ana, California.

“He turned himself in this morning,” county sheriff’s spokesman Jim Amormino said. “He was booked, fingerprinted, had his photo taken, and an arrest report was filed out.”
An arrest warrant was issued for Snoop Dogg last week after he was charged with possession of a deadly weapon stemming from a Sept. 27 incident at Orange County’s John Wayne Airport.

The 35-year-old rapper was trying to catch a flight with two bodyguards when airport security spotted a long metal object in his laptop computer case. The officers then discovered a 20-inch collapsible baton inside, prosecutors said.

Although possession of the baton could have been filed as a lesser misdemeanor charge, Snoop was charged with a felony based on his previous criminal record.

Snoop contends that the baton was a prop for an upcoming video shoot, and he was unaware it was illegal to carry it on a plane.
